Categories

Categories are essential for organizing your products within the Invoice Application. They allow you to group similar items together, making it easier for you and your customers to navigate your product catalog.

Creating a New Category

  1. Navigate to the Categories menu located on the left sidebar of the application.
  2. On the Categories page, you will typically find a button labeled “Add New Category” or similar. Click on this button.
  3. A modal or a new section will appear, prompting you to enter the name of the new category.
  4. Type the desired Name for your category in the provided text field. Choose a name that clearly describes the type of products that will fall under this category (e.g., “Electronics”, “Clothing”, “Groceries”).
  5. Once you have entered the name, click the “Save” button to create the new category.
  6. The newly created category will now appear in your list of categories.

Editing a Category

  1. Go to the Categories page. You will see a list of all existing categories.
  2. Locate the category you wish to modify. Each category in the list should have an associated action button, typically an “Edit” icon (often represented by a pencil).
  3. Click on the “Edit” button for the category you want to change.
  4. A modal or a section will appear, displaying the current name of the category in an editable field.
  5. Modify the Name of the category as needed.
  6. Click the “Save” button to update the category with the new name. The changes will be reflected in the categories list.

Deleting a Category

  1. Navigate to the Categories page.
  2. Find the category that you need to remove from your system. Each category in the list should have a “Delete” button (often represented by a trash can icon).
  3. Click on the “Delete” button corresponding to the category you want to delete.
  4. The application will likely display a confirmation dialog asking you to confirm the deletion. This is to prevent accidental removal of categories.
  5. Click “Yes” or “Confirm” to proceed with the deletion.
  6. Important: You will not be able to delete a category if there are any products currently associated with it. The application will usually display a message indicating this restriction. You will need to reassign or remove the products within that category before you can delete it.

Managing your categories effectively will help you maintain a well-organized product catalog, which is crucial for inventory management and invoice creation.
