Products

The Products section is where you create and manage the items you sell. This is a central part of the Invoice Application, as products are the core of your inventory and invoices.

Creating a New Product

  1. Navigate to the “Products” menu on the left sidebar.

  2. On the Products page, click the “Add New Product” button or a similar call to action.

  3. A detailed form will appear, allowing you to enter all the necessary information for your product. Here’s a breakdown of the fields you’ll need to fill:

    • Icon Upload: You will typically find an option to upload an image or icon for your product. This can help with visual identification in lists. Click on the upload area to select an image file from your device.
    • Name: Enter the official name of your product (e.g., “Organic Apples”, “Cotton T-Shirt”, “1 Liter Milk”).
    • SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): This is a unique identifier for your product. You can either let the system generate one automatically or enter your own. A well-defined SKU system is crucial for inventory tracking.
    • HSN (Harmonized System Nomenclature): Enter the HSN code for your product. This is required for GST compliance in many regions.
    • GST Rate: Select the applicable GST rate for this product from the dropdown menu (0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, 28%).
    • Barcode Value: If your product has a barcode, enter the barcode number here. This can be used for scanning during inventory management and invoicing.
    • Category: Use the single-select dropdown to choose the appropriate category for this product from the categories you have previously created.
    • Brand: Select the brand of the product from the dropdown list of brands you’ve added.
    • Section Selection: Choose the relevant section for this product from the provided options:
GROCERY FRUITS VEGETABLES KIRANA DAIRY BEVERAGES SNACKS FROZEN_FOODS BAKERY PERSONAL_CARE HOUSEHOLD HEALTH_WELLNESS STATIONERY PET_SUPPLIES ELECTRONICS CLOTHING
Select the option that best describes your product.
    • Unit Selection: Choose the primary unit in which this product is sold or managed from the dropdown list. Available units include:
kg ltr piece packet dozen g (gram) mg (milligram) ton ml (milliliter) cl (centiliter) bag carton bundle cm (centimeter) m (meter) hr (Hour) min (Minute) sec (Second)
Note the “less” property in the unit list, which indicates a smaller unit for potential conversion or finer tracking.
    • Weight of Product: Enter the weight of the product, typically corresponding to the selected unit (e.g., “1” for 1 kg, “500” for 500 g).
    • Product Description: Provide a detailed description of your product. This can include information about its features, ingredients, or any other relevant details.
  4. Once you have filled in all the required fields, double-check the information for accuracy.

  5. Click the “Save Product” button to add this product to your catalog.

Product Listing and Actions

After successfully creating a product, you will be redirected to the Products Table or a similar listing page. This page displays all the products you have added, typically with key information such as Name, SKU, Category, Brand, and Stock.

  • Stock Value: The product listing will show a “Stock” value, which represents the total quantity of that product currently available across all its inventory batches. This value is automatically updated as you add new inventory or create invoices.
  • Actions: For each product in the list, you will usually find a set of action buttons:
    • Edit: Click this button (often a pencil icon) to modify the product details you entered during creation.
    • Delete: Click this button (often a trash can icon) to remove the product from your catalog. Important: You will only be able to delete a product if there are no associated inventory entries for it. If inventory exists, you will need to delete those entries first.

The Products section is the foundation of your inventory and invoicing system. Ensure you create accurate and detailed product entries for smooth operations.
